Jakes Steaks began some 20+ years ago as an idea to provide Philly style cheese steaks in the Annapolis area. Jakes prides itself in its quality “made to order” sandwiches and friendly neighborhood atmosphere.
Jakes Steaks was founded and operated by Jake and Jack Plakotaris until the business was sold to its present owner Joe Cecere. Joe is committed to providing the same quality on which the store was founded.
Jakes was first located across from the Giant food store on Solomon’s Island Road in Edgewater Maryland. After 10 years in the same location the store was moved to its present location in the shopping center at South River Colony. The store has operated in this location since 1995.
Jakes Steaks knows they are a cut above the average Philly Cheese Steak and here is why…
•We use only rib eye meat for all our cheese steaks.
•We cut the meat on site and season it with a special recipe of spices that brings out the flavor of the meat. If you are in during the day you can see us cutting the meat and preparing it for use later in the week.
•Our cheese steak meat is aged for about two days before cooking. This gives the spices a chance enhance the flavor.
•When you order a steak from Jakes we cook your choice of condiments –onions, sweet peppers, and mushrooms - right with the meat. We do not add them on top after the meat is done. This also provides additional flavor to the sandwich.
•Our rolls are delivered fresh daily – adding to the taste and enjoyment of your sandwich.

Myth 1: Women approaching the end of their pregnancy will often come to Jakes around their due date. Rumor has it that soon after eating a Jakes cheese steak, women will go into labor!
Myth 2: Jakes Steaks cure hangovers. It has been said after a night of heavy imbibing of alcohol Jakes steaks will cure your hangover.
Myth 3: Jakes Steaks prevents hangovers. Have a Jakes Steak prior to going out for a night on the town and you are safe from the morning-after hangover!
